Obituary for Stephen Craig Laurel, Sr.

Stephen Craig Laurel, Sr.
On the morning of Friday January 5, 2024, we lost our beloved husband, father and Poppy, Stephen Craig Laurel Sr., 66, of Burlington City.

Stephen was born on June 10, 1957, in Quincy, Massachusetts and was raised in Edgewater Park, New Jersey. For over 42 years, Stephen and his wife Monica resided in Burlington City where they enjoyed a beautiful life together and enjoyed raising their children and grandchildren. Stephen was dedicated to his profession and had a 25-year career with General Motors as an “on the line” paint and body man. In addition to General Motors, Stephen held numerous other jobs throughout his lifetime some of which included driving trucks. He drove many types of truck, but his favorite was the dump trucks which he drove for many private companies.

Stephen was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and a loyal Long Beach Island goer. Every summer and for almost every year of his life, Stephen and his family traveled to LBI together. He loved the time at LBI and provided his family with many loving memories. In addition to trips to LBI, Stephen also enjoyed spending quality time with children and grandchildren. Stephen enjoyed watching mobster movies, listening to the oldies, watching classics tv shows on Turner Classic and Me TV. Sunday was always a special day for Stephen because he enjoyed watching movies and sports events with an Arnold Palmer in hand. He also loved his Philadelphia teams the Eagles, Phillies, 76ers and Flyers.

Stephen was preceded in death by his mother and father Patricia and Gerald Laurel and is survived by his loving wife, Monica Laurel (Petrizzi); one son Stephen Craig Laurel, Jr.; one daughter-in-law Michelle Laurel; one daughter Veronica Nordaby; one son in law; Steven Nordaby; two grandsons Derek Laurel and Hunter Nordaby and a host of family and friends, especially Carolyn.

Stephen will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

In lieu of donations and gifts, we ask that flowers be sent for Stephen’s memorial service at his request. Arrangements can be made directly through the Dennison Funeral Home website.
